From the time my son was 8 months old, I have been his Momma...He is now 8 yrs old, and his BIO mother has been in and out of his life too many times to count. She was ordered to pay CS back in September of 2006, and has made only 3 payments to date. Not one of them has even been the full amount ordered to pay. BIO Mom has only excercised visitation consistently for 3 months since he was 15 months old...In most people's eyes, I have the technical title as Step Mother of my son...And although it is true my son did not come from my womb, he was born to me through my heart. I have loved and cared for him as my own since the day we met. With all of this being said, I feel like it is time for my son to not only be mine by marriage to his Dad, but legally as well. What is the first step I should take in the adoption process in the state of TEXAS?
