Did you ever get this answered? I am in the same situation and was wondering the same thing because we were never married either. Please advise thanks!

Question Where can I find exact instructions on filing?

First, thank you so much for posting the forms! I have been looking through the state websites for awhile trying to find them. So disheartening sometimes.

We live in Brazoria county south of Houston. Is anyone in this area; if so, has anyone in this area filed their own forms?

Our situation is that my husband would like to adopt my biological children from my 1st marriage. Although my ex 'says' he wants to be in the kids lives, he hasn't talked to/seen them since 2005...yes, he knows where we are (address/phone number...everything). We would really like to get this over and done with. another small note is that he is in Colorado. Has anyone done an out of state adoption? My ex has said that he would relinquish his rights so at least this is the easiest part.

Again, thanks for the forms - is there a website these came from? Please let me know if you have other answers to the other question. Please feel free to email me.

Thanks!!

Red face ???Step Parent Adoption Process???

The Bio Father has signed the VRPR. We were never married and no other court has jursidiction. Can I file the papers in the county my child and I currently reside, or do I have to file in the county my child was born?

Heart Information Please....

Where do you start. My daughter and her husband want to adopt each others kids. Not much money but loving family.

Anyone who would like to offer information / mentor on how to do this please email me.

How was your experience?

Danamom, Thank You so much for your information and attachments.
I was wondering how was your personal experience while doing all of these steps for a step parent adoption.

I live in Houston, in Harris county, and I have been interested in adopting my step-children for a while, only to find the costs were so high! Anyway, We already have the voluntary relinquish of parental rights from the biological father, so we are on our way!!

Did the judge ask for a home study?
