My husbands ex has already given up her rights to his kids. I would like to adopt them w/o an attorney. Does anyone have the forms for 2007 that I could use? Do I need a homestudy if we've been together since 1999? and the birthmom gave up her rights in 2000. My oldest is 14 and youngest is 11...

If your state requires a homestudy for a stepparent adoption then yes, you still need one regardless of how long you have been married. Some counties will let it slide for stepparent adoptions, but you will have to ask the courts to waive the homestudy, otherwise it is required. Getting the TPR is the hard part, filing for the adoption is the easy part, that is just paperwork! Good luck, and keep us posted on how things go!
