Step parent adoption is BF Is Deceased ?

I had my son when i was 16 , he's 14 now . His BF left when i told him i was pregnant. Did not sign the Birth certificate, never saw him , never paid child support (nor did i ever file on him) My son's BF died about 6 1/2 yrs ago , right before I married. I have been married for 6 yrs and now have a 5 yr old son (from my husband lol) . My husband has been wanting to adopt my oldest son basically since day one . But we always thought it was too expensive and would be too complicated with his BF being dead . We were also afraid that the BF's parents might surface and try to get visitiation or something ? After finding this site by accident, I might just have some hope after reading some of the emails. Would it be more difficult to do a step parent adoption since his BF is deceased or maybe easier than I thought ? how much does it cost . I guess Where do i start ? I tried posting this on another board on the site but never got a response . So i thought some more fellow texans might help me out lol
Thanks for your help
Mindy

Information

Mindy,

It would actually be a lot easier since the BF is deceased. You can download the information from this forum and then modify it for your situation. Where it states the voluntary relinqueshment info just state the BF is deceased and attach a copy of the death certificate. I have left the information on the forums and instructions on how to do it. Best of luck!
