Need info please!!!!

I have just started trying to figure out how I (step-mom) can adopt my 9 year old step-daughter. She has lived with my hubby and I for 3 years now, and my hubby has full custody of her. The mom has the right to visit her and is responsible for paying CS (although she rarely does). The mom is on community probation for violation of CS for 10 years. The mom barely sees my SD, and never calls her, mom also has 5 other children at home.
I know that she will never just give up her rights b/c she hates me so much...but I want to adopt my SD.

How do I go about starting all the paperwork for adoption?? Do I need a lawyer?? What is the cheapest and best way to go about this??

Get an attorney~ Sounds like you will have a fight on your hands!
