Age for child to consent for adoption?
At what age in Texas is a child old enough to just consent to the adoption and avoid all the hastle of terminating the father's rights?

I hate to be the person that gives you bad news, but it's 18! Until the child is of adult age you will still need to go through a termination/adoption. I know that's not very comforting, sorry!

Yes, it is 18 - however, in Texas, children 12 and older must consent to being adopted - in addition to their bio-parent.
That might be what is confusing...
