Smile Moving to another county while proceeding with adoption.

Hi!

We're almost done with our step-parent adoption - we're doing DIY adoption w/o lawyers. We're about to schedule our home study interview in Williamson County. Everything else is done other than home study and to appear in front of the judge.

The thing is we just bought a brand new house in Travis County and will be moving in the middle of December.

What do you do if the adoption won't get done on time?
Do you know if we have to start all over again or we can just transfer all of paperwork to appear in front of judge.

Thanks!

I just finished home study with social worker

so we asked our social worker if we need to finish up our adoption before we move to another county in the end of this year. She said we already initiated the adoption process in our county and there is no need to transfer the case to our new county. We'll try and get it done before we moved to our new house though!!

Smile Could you help me joeyfley?????

Hi,

I just found your posting and was wondering if you could tell me about your dealings with Williamson County. I live in RR and am about to start this process between my 13 year old and my husband. We got the BF to sign his rights last summer, I just need to get them down to the courthouse and get them signed. Can you please tell me how, what, when, where, you did everything? It just seems easier to ask you since you lived right here! Any info would be appreciated.

THANKS!
Veronica R.
