I am wondering if any one knows how difficult it is to do a contested stepparent adoption. I don't know for sure if it will be contested, but it probably will. The bf doesn't care about our daughter and the only reason he wants to keep rights is to let his mom see her. Right now we have a temp order that has supervised visitation, but he has not gone. After this month there is no other visitation. His mom has always been the one to pick her up and our daughter has always stayed with her. There is also a possiblity he has a mental issue. He was very abusive and violent when we were married that was why I divorced him. Our daughter has said that she is afraid of him and she doesn't even know he is her dad. she calls him by his first name. My attorney says that we don't have anything right now that a court would terminate his rights and proceed with the adoption. He says I need to take her to a psychologist. All we want is the best for her and taking him out of the picture would be. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it. Also if anyone knows of people I could talk to please let me know.
