Hi everyone.
I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm needing some information on this voluntary relinquishment of parental rights for....where can I get it...how much does it cost...how much is it to file in court...how long is the process and then how do you go about changing the birth certificate? Do I change that when my husband adopts her? If anyone has it on hand and could send it to my email it would be a great help. I live in Tarrant county...don't know if they are different for each county. A lady already sent one copy but it wasn't in the right format. Please anyone...help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Tanya |

Info
Hi Tanya,
Here's what I have in the way of information for you! I'm going through this as we speak. I created my relinquishment form and had my ex-husband sign it. Then I created my "adoption and termination" petition. You then have to file this with your local court house. It's somewhere between $150 - $180 to file it. We are fortunate enough to have an attorney that is friends with us so he's looked over all my paperwork and said I'm good to go. Once you file this, you need to have your husband fingerprinted then sent to the Texas DPS with $15 to make sure he doesn't have any kind of record. DPS will then send the results to the courts. I'm not sure if you need to or not, but a "social study" might be needed. That'll cost anywhere between $350 - $1000. You have to have a minimum of 30 days to have the social study sent in to the court before your hearing. Once all of this is in you will set a court date with your court that your case has been filed with. Then you will go to court and have your hearing. If all goes well it can be done within 3 months. Good luck and I hope this has helped.

OOPPSS!
Sorry I didn't answer all your questions.
Once you have the adoption hearing there is a form that you can fill out and take to the clerk's office and they will fill out their part and then it can be sent to the Bureau of Vital Statistics and a new birth certificate will be issued. I'm in Denton County so our information should be pretty close to being the same. Also, if you are needing the petition for "adoption and termination" let me know. I have that also. You will also need a couple other forms that goes along with that. KEEP ME POSTED!
