Staffed (Finally!) For a Little Boy
Long story - I'll try to be brief. Any info. greatly appreciated. Submitted HS on specific child Feb. 2002, minimal contact with SW (didn't return calls) assumed he'd be placed. Received call in Dec. asking if we're still interested (Oh, YES!) figgered it was a long-shot as we've 6 children (4 are 6yrs and under) and out-of-state. We've been staffed and are waiting for file at this point. So, first question - how long does that usually take? Our adopted children were our foster kids so I've never had this experience and TX works differently than our state. Also, they said we still have to meet with FPs, SWs, GAL, etc. for a Q&A session. Is it possible at that time for them to change their minds (I've been told the FPs are going to be a bit difficult so I'm very nervous). Also, in my state, subsidy pays for travel expenses (they book flight & hotel room for you) does TX do this also. I don't want to look greedy and ask the worker but we're modest (translate by the skin of our teeth!) middle class and we will charge it if we have to but would prefer not to. Thanks for any help/advice. While I'm asking, we've never transitioned a child (he'll be 3 or 4 depending how long transition and procedures take) as ours had been with us 2-3 years before adoption. Any advice on that. Thx again.
