My husband and I have been licensed through CPS since June 2011. We have had one placement call that ended up not being placed with us. (See my other post for more info) What I am wondering is how long have any of you waited for an initial call? We are in region 9. Brady/mason area. We are licensed for one child age 0-17, male or female.
Every time we have called our FAD worker we are told that there just aren't any removals of single children requesting our area. Is this normal? Any advice and info is welcome. |

I was open for all races, m/f, 0-8. I got my first and only (a 1 yo daughter) after three days of activating my license and adopted her 17 months later. I'm in a different Region, but it still seems odd that you haven't even had one emergency placement. The call came from Placement, not from FAD. I wonder if there's a number you can call for them?

I understand your frustration, because that seems like a really long time to wait for your first placement. However, you are not exactly in one of the biggest regions, and sometimes there are just a lot more sibling groups removed than individuals. Be patient. It's worth the wait.

I know this might sound silly but...it's a good thing you haven't gotten a placement. I know that's not what you want to hear. Just continue to be patient. Your time will come.

The longest we've gone without a placement call is 1 week.

thought I would share what just happened to me. I was planning to do straight adoption but my agency decided to get me licensed for foster...not sure they did that but it is done. They called me at 2:07 to tell me this and that they have my license number at 2:40 I got a call for a placement. it was for foster, the person did not even know I was not looking to foster nor my age range. crazy call but thought I would share how quick things could have happened if I was fostering. I am in Houston.
