Waiting to be licensed... then waiting for placement?

In Region 3, what was your experience? Our homestudy was conducted about a week and a half ago. All other paper work, ect has been done for a few weeks.
How long does the "approval" take? How long did you wait for a foster placement?

We are doing foster to adopt, ages 0-12 months any race, any gender.

If it helps, we are using Covenant Kids.

Thanks!

Normal waiting time for the license is 4 -6 weeks after the homestudy visit. Your first placement could be anytime after the license arrives. An age range for such young children could make it take longer, but not always.

Good luck.

If you only want a child under 12 months you will probably have a long wait from what I've pieced together. There are dozens of homes that are open to babies, which means there are more people to compete with your profile.

As far as approval, we did our homestudy in December and they finally bothered to approve it in March. Being that a homestudy is only good for six month by my understanding, this has been a long wait that is wasting tax payer money because none of the workers seem to be talking to each other and getting things opperating in a way that makes sense.

Thanks for updating. I often wonder about what happens to some people after we never hear from them again. I can stop wondering about you, now. Thanks.

Excited for you and your family.

I don't know how long it was from homestudy stuff to license. It was only two months from inquiry to license though. We really worked hard to do it extra fast though and our agency was a lot of help in making that happen.

Anyway, we had a placement call the next day and a placement the next Monday. However, we weren't looking for only babies either.

Some things that will play a factor in you getting a placement:

1) your age range is very narrow
2) how hard your agency works to get you a placement
3) your location (if you live in Kaufman, it may take longer than if you live in Dallas)
4) how many other open baby home beds there are at any given time

ETA: Ooops, I see you found YOUR answer Enjoy your baby

My husband and I have been licensed since August and still no placement. The agency says it's been slow.

My agency says the same and the calls they are getting are for sibling groups. I only have room for one.

My husband and I finished PRIDE classes the first week in September, still no homestudy. I actually haven't had a single call or any contact since then until I got on the phone and hunted someone down. They have everything they need, we just need a homestudy scheduled. We are in Region 3. It doesn't seem normal to wait this long, I mean 5 months.....and counting. I have heard it is because we live out in the country, outside of the bigger cities. Is this true?
