When we were adopting our lawyer told us $1500 if they needed to do another one, but our foster HS was good enough.

Home study
I'm near Fort Worth and I've found three different places, one charges $1100, one $1000 and one $750. I called an adoption attorney today for an independent adoption (I already have an emom) and the attorney said the home study would be $450-600 depending on who the court appointed social worker is. Have no idea what that means, or when it happens, but I like the price!

We paid $1100 to one private agency then went thru a private agency for foster to adopt, which was free. If you PM me I will give you their name, they are in Austin. I would recommend them hands down, we are treated as if they only had us as clients.

Jennifer, I read your latest blog posts, and I wanted to tell you don't give up on infant placement. Are you listed to accept legal risk kids? Are you somewhat open to race? If you are, there's actually a shortage of homes, not an over abundance. Who is your agency? Some seem to get more infants than others. Is the new home study for a private adoption, or are you changing agencies? Sorry, trying to help. Our kids are 1, 2, and 3, all siblings placed one at a time. The trial for the third is in four weeks. I cannot imagine losing...

we have a foster/adoption homestudy. and they have yet to fix the "glitch" in there system to get us in it to license us. We are however, able to send out our homestudy for inquires. we finished our classed in march and had our inspections in may. STILL NO LICENSE! and no calls on placements. we would like to straight adopt, no legal risk. To much stress, I don't do well under that kind of stress. I know I would break and the kids would suffer because I'd be so afraid of losing them. After thinking lonnnnggg and hard, we need to have a little bit older, no older then 10. and we want boys, and theres an abundance of boys on the TARE. We've been doing inquires like crazy this month, 5 to be exact, so in a couple months we're probably gonna be getting some calls and then we can decide which is best if we are chosen. I'm losing faith in our agency, so I'm doing this MY way as much as I can. I like to be pro-active, I cant just sit around and wait for someone else to do it for me. I like to be able to control whaT I can, which in the case of the state and adoption, isnt much. But we are excited, we've found some children that we would be so happy to call our children.. The waiting is the hardest part of it all.
