A Question About Adopting From Texas
Hello! My husband I recently adopted our three foster babies here in southern NM. We had three children in our home already, our bio son and our son adn daughter we adopted from Vietnam back in 2001, bringing our total number of kids to six.
New Mexico won't allow us to adopt any more children, as six is their limit. Does Texas have a limit on how many children can be in the adoptive home? I sent an inquiry in for a child on the TARE site and my Adoption Social worker won't send our homestudy in until they no if there is a limit on the number of children. I sent an email in to the child's social worker, but we know how long it can often take to hear back. Anyone have the answer or know where I can find it? Thanks! |

These two sites may help you. It does say that you can't have more than 6 children total in the home if you are fostering. If the child is still a ward of the state during the adoptive placement, that rule may apply but I don't know for sure.

6 is the limit for a basic home, but you can certify for a "group home" and have up to 12, I believe.
