Photolisting adoption

I am (trying) to adopt from TARE. I'm approved, and am waiting to be assigned an adoptive caseworker.

In the mean time I have submitted for 5 different situations on TARE.

For those who adopted from photolistings how many did you submit for before being matched?

OR were you as adoptive parents matched by your adoptive case worker?

We haven't adopted yet, but we've started submitting our HS about 6 weeks ago. In that time, we've been passed over for 3 situations, one is still up in the air (reviewing HSs on a rolling basis), and we're in the process of having our HS submitted for 3 more situations right now. So I'm wondering the same thing you are...

Btw, could you explain what TARE is?

We have a HS with the Datz Foundation, and one with our local DCS. However, the latter one they won't give us a copy and won't let us use it for out of state inquiries. And our Datz HS has also been causing us trouble bc our SW doesn't work for them full time, so there's been a lot of miscommunication and delays between requesting our docs to be submitted and actually having them submitted. So I'm curious about this TARE bc it sounds like you have your own designated SW to help you through the process.

Yes through CPS I am supposed to have a cw who is connecting me (and 100 other families I'm sure) To children who are free for adoption and also I have to be aware of children on Texas Adoption Resource Exchange who I am interested in. It's a public website anyone can access to view legally freed children. If I see a child I am interested in I "submit interest" as an approved home... and the ball gets rolling from there. Have you registered with Adoption Family Network? It serves a similar purpose, and makes the HS available to sw's in tx.
I worked directly with the state rather than an agency.

We were/are straight adopt. We submitted solely through TARE and did not bother going out of state because we rarely heard back. We submitted probably about 50-60 times. Tare is not updated as often as it should be and some of those kids have been on for a VERY long time. I know personally that we submitted 2 years ago on several groups that are STILL on TARE. Here's what we learned, although you don't think that there are many homestudies on say a particular group as maybe they are more moderate or of a different race etc. the caseworker gets hundreds and hundreds of homestudies submitted on every group you see posted.

We were in the running several times though, but for one reason or another we weren't chosen. Then we were selected. So it does happen, but you can't contact anyone, you just sit and wait and alot of times never hear back.

We are a success story and are in the process of placement currently.

We got licensed in 1/2009 and have submitted interest forms on 3 or 4 children on TARE. Our home study was forwarded by our caseworker each time. Our last submittal was on a two boys (siblings) and we were selected as "one of the families" that were being considered. We went to a meeting with their caseworker to get a basic background of the boys to see if we were still interested and wanted to move forward. We ultimately have been selected and are meeting the boys for the first time upon our return from vacation on 7/19/09. That is our story. We feel extremely excited and blessed.

We were informed yesterday that we were matched with a girl that we submitted interest on through TARE.

We were surprised as we hadn't heard anything in a long time for the TARE interest form. Our caseworker contacted us with the information.
