We are former foster parents no longer licensed wanting to start over and go the straight adoption route. We are are open to any race, hoping to adopt age 3 and over.
Anyone have experiences to share? Do we have to go through the complete PRIDE training again? If so, is there there such a thing as PRIDE being done in a weekend or two? Also pm me with experiences you have had with agencies in Region 3 as we don't want to go with cps because of forever wait to get through everything. |

We did straight adopt through CPS 7 years ago with our first daughter and are doing straight adopt again (but through CPS again, not private). This time it is definitely longer that waiting for our "baby" the first time! We are looking for ages 3-10.
Not sure about Pride classes on the weekends (I thought they had them). |

How long have you been waiting so far?

I guess the wait is more about finding the right group then it is the actual time - it just takes so long to get matched, read records, and then if you don't move forward start all over again.
We were actually selected for 2 boys (4&7?) last August, but we decided not to proceed because of extended family. It actually happened that they ended up being adopted by an aunt that came out of the woodwork. In Sept. we submitted for a sib group of 4 we saw on TARE and were selected in Jan. In April, we decided not to move forward (once again, because of extended family). (I always wonder if we didn't make the wrong decision - the kids were great - I guess time will tell.) |

we did straight adopt in region 6. We are in the process right now of going through visitations and are in the overnight and weekend visit phases. Placement is not planned until school gets out in June. I'm not sure about Pride classes, but I do know that if we had switched to private agency that we would not have had to do Pride again, we only would have to do the special classes that the agency required.
We were selected for a sibling group of 3. Our initial age range was 3-9 any race and up to moderate in levels. |
