If you go to this page you will see a map of the different regions.

I'm region 3 which takes in Dallas and the outlaying areas to the east where I'm at.

There is a state rate regardless of whether you are with an agency or CPS. It is also based on levels of care:basic, moderate and severe. Basic rate is $22 a day. Don't know about the other levels.

You may want to contact the agency your interested in. I think they all receive the designated amount (passed by our legislature), although some non-profit agencies don't take the state funding so they can keep their status & operate on donations. Not sure how an agencies compensation affects the fp's care for a child-why do you ask?

Some years ago Texas decided it wasn't a good parent and started to move toward licensing agencies and equipping them to handle the day to day work of overseeing kids in foster care. At the same time, they still have case workers who do the removing, the overseeing, etc.,for the state. Private agencies are paid by the state to license, keep records, oversee the kids, do inspections etc, with the intent of freeing up state workers to do more in terms of court proceedings, visitations, etc. I do not know what they pay the agency for each child the agency places, but they pay all agencies the same and all the agencies then pay their foster families the same rate. The pay is the same whether you are licensed through a private agency or the state. Obviously the agencies are being paid enough to have a full staff at their offices and enough CW's to fill the need.

Go to DFPS - About DFPS. At the bottom of the page there is a link to a pdf document of the DFPS regions by county.

Currently, a CPA is paid the following amounts per day for foster care not including the day the kids left the placement:
Basic $38.59
Moderate $70.22
Specialized $93.54
Intense $171.53

All the rates can be found here:
DFPS - Rates for 24-hour Residential Child-Care Reimbursements

The rate that CPA's pay to foster parents varies. But the figures above are also go cover administrative costs and often cover clothing/camp fees, etc that agencies may include in their services.
