Well we finalized Tuckers adoption on FRIDAY! It was great & was 1 day shy of our 6 month mark so it was nice! Im devastated to find out Tucks 5 year old brother is back in a foster home. This is his full biological brother, he has been living with their paternal grandma with his 6 year old sister, but grandma of the year sent the 5 year old boy back to a foster home & kept the girl. We are trying to find out more information, this was the same foster family he was living with prior to being given to his grandma. So my hope is they want to adopt him, if not we have a very hard decision to make, seeing as my 6 year old nephew lives with us as well & 3 boys, 2 age 6 & 1 soon to be 3 year old is mind blowing!

well, as an update...we leave in a week for a bit of family time in the midwest before heading to Texas to meet our children for the first time. We will be adopting a sibling group of 5, and adding them to our already large family. Our house is crazy lately with so much to do, I can barely sleep I'm so excited, stressed and scared to death.

tctahoe- I love it that you have a big family! i will def want to keep in touch with you if it's okay? What are the sexes with those ages, and which ones are bio and which ones are you/have you adopted? How long have you had a large family? I'd love to learn from you. I'm stressed beyond belief. Less than a week before we make this big change and last night I had a complete melt down. crying and wondering what the hell am i doing. Starting doubting my confidence and my ability to parent and all of that. I am so scared of it all sometimes.

Well what's great about your group is that you have alot of girls and they definitely always want to help out with the young ones! I wouldn't doubt yourselves for a second. A big family has its challenges just as a single child does, it's just different.

Let's see for me I have:
5: Boy
6: Boy
6: Girl
7: girl
9: boy
9: girl
11: girl
12: boy
13: girl
15: Boy

2 are bio! 1 is very autistic and requires 24 hour supervision too! I have my meltdowns, but they are becoming fewer and far between. We asked ourselves the same question...what are we doing?!?

We have been doing weekend visits for quite some time now. We had an extended transition plan due to the older ages of our group, but they have transitioned very well and were ready to move in 2 months ago, they even told their judge that! But we didn't want to move them before the end of the school year.

So, I posted on this very thread months ago indicating I didn't think I could handle the limited amount of information before staffing.

However, life changes and things happen that you don't expect...so here we are.

My husband and I were chosen in a staffing for a young girl and we are hoping to review some additional information about her late this week or early next week at the agency office. I am told this will be the full file on her but I'm not entirely sure what to expect.

Can anyone give me advice on questions that might not be answered in a file that I should ask so that we can make the right decision on what is best for the child?

Hi everyone!
I just got my pre-staffing information to review to decide if I was still interested. The HSEGH-what a thingy.

How long after you got that info was your staffing?

Shelly:
I wish I had advice. Please let us know what you learn in your research (not about your child but about the process )and how the process works.

I am in florida, but we received the called telling us we were chosen for a staffing last thurday. We received info on the child on Monday and the staffing was yesterday. We are waiting for thier decision now.

So, your staffing could be anytime, you should asked them when it is scheduled for. Your your agency's adoption manager should be able to find out for you.
