Foster to adopt - CPS or Private Agency
I've read a similar post to this one, but didn't see a direct answer.
We have been approved foster/adopt home for about 8 months...we've only received 2 calls from our private agency we are with. They say it's because of our ages, which are 0-6. (In CA, we always had babies, but here in TX it seems impossible to get them!) I made friends with a supervisor at CPS, who has now called us for kids, and then places through our agency...so much for our agency helping us. My question is, should we switch to CPS direct? Is it a pain to change our homestudy and everything over to CPS, and have another long wait? My supervisor friend, said CPS does tend to call CPS foster homes first, so maybe it would be better to go direct. We are pending an answer on an inquiry we made to adopt a 6 yr old from TARE site, so not sure if we should wait until we're selected or not selected before making change. Sorry for all my ramblings...anyone have any advice?? Thank you in advance! |

I would wait until you get some notification that either the child ahs a family selected, you're not a potential match etc. before you decide to switch agencies. I would check with CPS and see what you would need to do switch over to CPS and be current. We went straight with CPS but don't know how much of a hassle it would be to switch back over. They may require you to start from square one and they may just start with paperwork etc., whatever way you go don't plan on it being anything speedy. Even if it is just a paperwork transfer it will still sit on someone's desk for awhile.
I know here in our region there are alot of babies. So, maybe it is just your region that doesn't have he age group. I know that some of the regions are scarce in the lower age limit children. |
