What has been the longest Wait?

Hi, absolutely new here and have been reading all of your wonderful posts!
We are straight adopt in region 6 and have been licensed since April 08 for 1-4 ages 3-14 up to moderate levels and are looking for a sibling group. Well, we have submitted countless times and are still waiting for 'THE CALL', so just thought I would ask how long some of you have waited to ease my anxiety! Thanks for any feedback.

Hi, tctahoe we are also in region 6. We are straight adopt licenced in April 08 for 1-3 kids ages 4-14. We sumitted our homestudy on about twenty sets of kids and we were matched with our daughter in September.
We are in the third week of visits and loving it. She moves in the week before Thanksgiving.

waiting long?

If it makes you feel any better, I have been waiting for two months just to get a home health inspection done! My house is an"oldie but a goodie" and they want the inspections done first, but no one seems to know who does the inspecting for my county! I am getting kinda frustrated with how slow this process works, or doesn't work, as the case may be. I thought these kids needed homes?

there must be some way to find out from the county offices who does home insections. I would be on the phone until I got some answers. Are you in a very rural county?

rural as it gets! We don't have a health department and the only fire departments are volunteer. It wouldn't be so bad, if they would just talk to me, give me updates, act like it was on their list of things to take care of...you know, courtesy. My caseload is kinda big, too, but I at least return my client's phone calls! Our region up here has been under investigation several times over the past few years, but can't really tell that much has changed.

well, it kinda helps that one of my friends from church is a volunteer firefighter, so----she gave me a name and a phone number, so that part is easy. the health department check is the one that will be holding me up! YOu'd think, with all their talk of needing parents, they would be a little easier to deal with and a little more professional. If I handled my office like they do thiers I would be out of a job!

They Are Just Out Of Control

DCW_ you hit the nail on the head this is an agency that is out of control with too much power and little to no oversight. Until the Legislators get ahold of them an calls them on it there really wont be a change.. And the only way the Legislators will reprimand the agency is to get complaints from ALL OVER THE STATE! Sadly numbers and statistics is what really talks.

But, the sad thing is that it takes a major screw up for the legislature, or anyone else for that matter, to pay attention to what is going on here. It just isn't newsworthy until a tragedy occurs Look at all the children that have died or disappeared while in state custody, and how much has been done or attention paid? We've got to figure some way to get a spotlight shone on this without a child having to die first!
