Did you hear?

I talked to CPS again about getting placements and my caseworker told me there are no kids available, check the TARE website-with a why are you still bugging me tone.

So I called a connection that works in a private agency that works with CPS and she said they don't have any kids either. If CPS has no kids, they have no kids either. She said they just had a meeting and there was only 1 foster placement done in October in the whole city(about 500,00 people) where I live.

She said it's getting harder for workers to remove kids in Texas because now they have to get a supoena. Better for families but harder for us that want to foster/adopt.

My next step....?

Wow...where exactly are you living? I told you that CW said that alot of relatives are coming forward to take the children, but only one foster placement?

We are in Austin and I got called twice in October about placements and those were for single children. Most come into care with siblings. If I had more room, I am sure I would have had more calls.

It just seems a little odd to me that removal of endangered children would go down even with the new law. It hasn't slowed anything up here in northeast Texas. They have to go before a judge now, but still don't need any more evidence than they needed before.

considering your location, how many families who are being investigated disappear over the border and when they come back are not on the radar screen anymore???

My friend just reached her allowed capacity yesterday. She was given another sibling set last night. So she now has 6 children in her home. So region 8 is not at a loss.

In talking to my worker last week when I got my last (my first placement) they have spurts. Some days that get little or no placements and then they get slammed. So it is just a matter of time.

I feel you we get the same from our case worker. The why are you calling me if I had a kiddo for you I would be calling you. Or my favorite be patient, or take a chill pill.

Its amazing the weeks I check in we are submitted the weeks I don't we float in limbo. I have decided to be as persistant as I can possibly be the squeky wheel gets the oil. Email phone fax mail that is my new motto.
