options on taking classes
I am just wondering what formats the PRIDE classes (and others) are on. To be honest, this has been the big stumbling block for me--to find a babysitter that frequently to take PRIDE classes (and I used to teach them or something like them years ago). I think the agency I was talking with said that their PRIDE is crammed into 2 or 3 days so that may work, but I am wondering about the other trainings/classes that I may need and if they are available on video, internet, or what???
And how do you keep up with your training? Are there certain classes that they want you to take every year or can you go to seminars that address those areas? Thanks! |

Our classes were on Saturdays. We never had to do anything else that would require us to have a babysitter. The night we all got together to sign the big pile of papers, everybody brought their kids to the agency office. It was a sight!

Our classes were offered on Tuesday nights (5-8pm) for like 10 weeks OR all day on Saturdays for 5 weeks.
We chose the Saturdays (9am-4pm with an hr lunch) and used both grandmas and some aunts and uncles as our babysitters so no one got use more than twice. We also had a Saturday that was CPR in the morning and final paperwork etc. in the afternoon. So a total of 6 Saturdays. Because they require 15 hrs per year here and PRIDE training was 30 hrs, we did not have to do any further hours until our second year. They send us occasional letters letting us know of an upcoming seminar and whether child-care is available upon request etc. and we are allowed to take some online with approval. Good Luck! Kim
