I just found this site. I am waiting to do a straight adoption of a caucasian toddler thru CPS. After reading all your posts, I am thinking this may take forever. This seems so depressing.
We fostered before..had a baby from birth to 16 months. But he ended up going back to his father who is a drug thug. We were devastated. Took 6 months off to recover. Then we decided to go directly through CPS instead of our private agency. IT TOOK 7 MONTHS for them to switch our license, all the while I was complaining and following up to push it along. Awful! Our license switched a month ago. We have no kids. I do not work. I want a little one! Do you think this will take months? If so, maybe I should go back to work. Hard to say. I am so ready to be a mommy. I can't handle fostering again. Mostly I am just venting here, but most of you understand. Anyone else feel my pain? Shoot me a line. Were in the Dallas area. Hang in there! *Hugs*
I just wanted to let you know that we are straight adopt form CPS thru a private agency, and so far, we are going on 1yr of waiting for that perfect match/selection. We, too, want a toddler(prefer under 3) and we are open to sib groups. Just wanted to let you know that you are not alone in your struggle!

I wanted to give you a little bit of hope. . . We did foster adopt through a private agency in Austin. We received our first foster placement, a 4 year old boy, in Feb. of 2006. We adopted him in December 2006.
For the age group you are looking at, it's definitely faster to do foster/adopt with a good agency. There are more risks as you well know but I tried to approach it as purely foster care until I knew for sure he would be ours. I'm not saying the process was a breeze but it got me a child in the age range I wanted. PM me if you are interested in the name of my agency. Good things happen. Don't give up. Your munchkin is waiting out there somewhere. It's just a matter of time. |
