Is anyone getting any calls. We of course got T the first week of June, we recieved no other calls while we had her and now it has been a month since she left and still no calls. I think this is the most frustrating ordeal anyone can ever go through.

I have had a few calls in the past 9 months + since our two left- but non were nearly what we needed or wanted or we didn't make the list.

I thought it was just us, but I guess its not. We have had an opening for over a month and we have gotten no calls. Does anyone have any insight as to what is going on? There was a shortage of homes in june and july and now all of a sudden not enough children? Seems kind of strange.

How do I find what region we are in and does it tell me which counties are in that region? I know I have found it before but I can't remember where.

BTW I emailed our aw last tuesday eve. and have not heard back from her yet. And I also called the woman that makes the placement calls and she has not returned my call either. WHAT IS GOING ON?

I have always located the region map at the TARE site. You are in Region 6.

When I first received my license, I was getting two calls each day by the end of the week. I was out of town for a funeral and and the following week for an overnight business trip, so I missed those calls completely. I called them back each time upon my return home on Friday, but it was too late. After receiving another call on my answering machine (I was at work at the time. I do check messages periodically throughout the day, but I couldn't understand the message until I replayed it at least five times later), I requested they use my cell phone number as my main contact instead of my home phone.

Last week I received my first call in a couple weeks about a fifteen month old girl. When I asked about daycare, the placement worker told me to talk to my caseworker. It was after 6 p.m., so reaching her was impossible until at least the following day. I wanted to take her anyway and work out the daycare later, but I didn't want to risk having to move her so soon. Now I'm back to waiting for the phone to ring - any phone.

I have called the placement lady here too and she will not answer or return calls. I wish someone could just tell us what is going on.

I wonder if its just Texas or if its other places too?

Thanks for the info Heather, I got what I needed. And if they ever call you with a girl from 1-4 yrs old and you can't take her tell them to call me. LOL

Ok I called the placement worker again yesterday and our aw today and still have not heard back from them.

I need to change agencies, but I don't know weather to go with another private or county.

As you can tell by my ticker we have been waiting almost 11 months just to get licensed. This thread did not get me too excited. This is so frustrating. We are still waiting on someone to get our homestudy done. I keep calling and I do get to talk to someone but she says that I should get a call any day now.

What county or city is everyone in? We are in San Antonio, anyone else?

McKinney to be exact. While going through a private agency made our licensing time faster, CPS apparently calls their own families for placements before going through the agencies so placement can take longer. We are pretty specific though. We are asking for two girls ages 7-12 preferable caucasian. I understand it can take awhile but why not return a phone call or email? It's like we are abandoned until we can serve a purpose.

a bed open currently (in fact, I am one past my license) but expect to in the next couple of weeks.

My understanding is that when they need a home for a child, a notice goes out to ALL agencies and the first one to call with a confirmed placement 'gets' the child.

Soo - I would tend to wonder about the placement worker in your agencies. My agency specifically places aa children, and I got a call within a week of being licensed....then another...then another.

I still prefer to be with an agency as I find the support and extra info I get from them invaluable. I think the CPS workers are so overworked it is hard to get what you may need from them. As it is, I rarely talk to the CW of the fs who has been with me these past four months. I get most of my info from his mother when she calls to talk to him.

While I am not a Foster Parent, I thought I'd chime in..... our CW told me yesterday that things usually slow down towards the end of summer. Then September, October they start getting tons of calls for placements. I think it may just be a "low" time right now.... I hope y'alls phones are ringing and soon!
