foster parent intervention

Hello all,

We have had care of a 3 yr old boy for almost 15 months now. The mediation for TPR was 2 weeks ago in which no TPR came about. Both parents are not following serrvice plans, so we hired a lawyer and filed an intervention.

Now, there is a permenancy hearing next week ....again....and we have the intervention filed, so we are officially party to the case, but overall as I enter into this very expensive open-ended lawyer thing, my wife and I are basically wondering what it is he can do for us from here on out? Does he have some special lawyer card he flashes, that will get us more info from CPS? Don't they have to tell us everything now anyway? I guess it pretty much seems up to the courts now so other than stand next to me in the court room, I'm a little unsure how it all plays out from here.

Anyone have any experience with interventions?

Thanks,

pozarnsk

Honestly, we consulted a lawyer during our case and she told us there wasn't a lot she could do before TPR. It's good that you're a party to the case, especially after 15 months, but the system still has to work itself out. CPS should be telling you what's going on with the case and should let you know what they're recommending. You can also talk to the guardian ad litem, CASA and attorney ad litem. They are also good resources.

so does the intervention itself gain me anything? Otherwise all I have done is annoy everyone involved with the case by assertting myself. I know it should protect me against someone showing up on my doorstep telling me to pack his bags, but ultimately if that does happen, what am I going to do anyway?

I just really got the feeling that we were being kept in the dark, so that's why I did it.

Thanks for the response.
