FS Attorney (lack of)

Hi all,

The TPR trial for our fs bio-parents is in late January. It appears that the attorney for our fs has not done anything. I have only tried to contact him once about 1 week ago and he has not returned my call. I am planning to try again after the holidays as I know this is a terrible time of year. But in talking to our fs CASA volunteer, her perspective is that he is not doing anything. She is putting the case together for our fs and his siblings. Is this normal? This should be a straight forward case, but I know from reading the different scenarios on this forum there is never a straighforward case. We would like to adopt our fs, but CPS is wanting to place him for adoption with his older half-brother. By the time the trial gets here we will have had him for almost 6 months but he will have been in foster care for almost 1 year. There is only 1 cw in the CPS office that we are working with so I am very concerned that things will fall through the cracks or that this case will not get the attention it needs. I know some of this information is very vague, but I just don't want to risk anything.

What should/can I do?

Any advise would be helpful.

Thanks

I'm sorry, I have no advice. I wish you the best.

You're right there is no such thing as a straight forward case. CPS makes sure that all of them get loops and curves thrown into them...

We're considering getting back into Foster Care, just not sure if we are ready to deal with the system again...
