normal placement ??

I received a call about placement for a sibling group currently in relative care. I agreed to take them (they will be my first foster kids but they aren't going to remove them for another week and a half. Is this normal? It sounded strange to me, like maybe they are still working with the relatives and trying to get the situation to work. Any ideas?

I also have been liscensed for about a month and getting a little anxious. I can only have elementary/middle school age kids due to my work schedule but I always heard the older kids were the harder ones to place.

Our very first call was similar. We didn't end up getting the placement but that is because someone filed an injunction and so the kids were not removed. one of the last placements I got was also a call before the child was removed and I got him about 4 days later.
So yes if they know ahead of time they try to find a home.

Thanks for the input. Another question. I have had several friends/family concerned about the decision to foster care. When I was liscensed it was for boys and girls 6-13 yrs old. I am a single, female teacher. How concerned should I be about taking in middle school aged boys? I teach middle school so I can relate to them but there are other concerns about boys at this age group.
