Home Study Complete-Waiting
Our family has recently complete our home study and are waiting to be match with a girl between age of 9 to 11. We have 2 bio children boys ages 12 & 13 and everyone is excited to add a daughter/sister to our family. We are doing straight adoption. When we started this process everyone kept telling us how easily this could happen since we wanted an older child, but now that does not seem to be the case. I am looking for any advice that can help us along. I just found the site for AFN on T.A.R.E. and have registered there, any other suggestions?

no, if you are doing straight adoption it could be along wait. Most kids have siblings, so wanting only one kid is a big limitation, also, most kids needing adoptiona re currently in a foster home, before TPR happens, and the foster home adopts them. It will happen eventually, but quickly is not likely.

We're certified foster and adopt for 6-10 for a girl. Our worker knows we'll go up to 11 or 12 for the right match. We got our license in January and are still waiting. We fostered one girl for a couple of months this summer but that was it. I anticipate a long wait. It's so difficult though.
