Yearly training online

This is our first training needed since we were certified. I was told that we could do part of it online. I am wanting to make sure that it is a business that my evaluation and certificate will be accepted by the state. Have any of you used the online training courses?

Thanks,
Melissa

Ok, just talked to another worker. She said at fosterparenttraining.com you could do some work on behavior management / alternative discipline and take tests there. However, she strongly advised going to inclassroom training instead.

I've taken several classes from http://www.fosterparentstest.com/store/index.htm

It is one of two online places that my agency will approve. They offer a wide variety of courses, and most of the one's I have taken can be completed in less than an hour. And, they are relatively inexpensive.

Had 18 other children placed with us during our 2 years as licensed foster parents.
We're considering getting back into Foster Care, just not sure if we are ready to deal with the system again...

does your agency limit how many online courses they will approve?

We have no limit if the courses are through the approved sites.

We each need 30 hours annually.
6 hours are covered when the swer comes to our house monthly. (we get 1/2 hour credit each month)
6 hours are covered at the agency for Behavioral Management, and Psychotropic Meds annually. (3 hours for each class)
The other 18 hours are up to us. We can do them online (at approved sites) or do them in a class at the agency if they have one we are interested in attending.

In our agency, we can count up to 15 hours of online training, if there is a test and a certificate. Some of the required hours have to be done at the agency (like the meds), and they have after hour classes with childcare offered at most of them. Makes it easier, but still difficult when the little one is a bear the next day because we were up too late.

I have done the online training mentioned, and one other ... hmmm, can't think of the other site. I mostly did a search for foster parent online training and found the sites. One is videos, which my dh loved, and the other was texted, which I liked better.

Good luck!
