Exclamation Single professional female wanting to foster to adopt infants & toddlers

Hi. I am a single professional female who works full time and who is looking to foster to adopt infants and toddlers (age 0-3). I have a great support system - i.e. my mom and sister. Can anyone please PM me on a good agency to use since agency discussion is not allowed on the board. I understand some agencies will not place infants and toddlers with people who work full time.

Where are you located? I have been with a private agency and been licensed since mid-March. Starting the day we received our license in the mail we started getting calls. We are licensed for 0 - 5, but prefer between 1 - 3 1/2. We were placed with a 2 year old boy about 2 weeks from when we became licensed. Most likely he will be going to a grandparent, but we received many calls. If your in the DFW area let me know and I'll send you more information regarding the agency we are using.

Not in Texas But Want To Offer Encouragement

I, too, am a single professional woman (live in NJ). I fostered a 2 year old boy for 6 months. Received a call today and I am getting an 11 mos old boy tomorrow.

It can be done. Good for you!

We are foster to adopt but not all of the children were close to TPR or anything. I think probably only one of them was becoming available for adoption but we didn't act quickly enough for the placement.

what do you mean by "acting quickly" is that when they call for a placement or later?

When we were called for a placement it seemed as if we needed to say yes right away, assuming we were comfortable with the information they provided. It seemed like the placements, especially for the young ones, were very quick to happen....in as little as 10 minutes. For one of the placements they called about it was for 2 children, 3 1/2 yr old boy and almost 2 yr old boy. I called my husband at work to talk about it because it would be our first placement and we weren't sure if we wanted 2 for a first placement. So, I called the agency back within 30 minutes and the boys had already been placed. That's what we experienced anyway.
