x post Bfamily moving out of country
Hi there...I am from Indiana, and writing to this board hoping there are people with more experience here.
Our fkids are Hispanic. Their mom is a citizen, born and raised here in the states, but their dad is an illegal from Mexico. They are married but are no longer "together". He is currently in jail, due to be deported when released in September. We just recently met dad's 2nd cousin and wife. They expressed interest in getting custody of the kids but only if it went to TPR..until then they aren't going to sign up to foster or try to have them moved from us. This "cousin" is also not a legal citizen, but here on a visa and as he is married to a citizen, working on paperwork, etc, should be. They mentioned that they are planning on moving back to Mexico as soon as he is granted citizenship (which makes NO sense to me! but...)
Okay my question is this...will a judge allow them to get custody of the kids and let them leave the country? They said they had no time or desire to go through the fostering training, etc (which I didn't know if they HAD to with kinship adoption). I'm just wondering...now that we know they are in the picture, it makes us recheck our chances of adopting them. Does anyone have any experience with this?
