Just found out we are expecting...Can we still foster?

Hi,
My husband and I completed our PRIDE classes back in August and are just waiting for a supervisor to give the final approval on our file. However, I just recently found out that I am expecting. I'm really excited, but I'm also bummed because we've wanted to foster for so long. Will CPS deny our home now that we're having a baby? It sucks to think that we've waited so long only to be denied because we are having another child. I plan on calling the caseworker tommorow to let her know the situation. I sure hope that we can at least get our license, take the 20 hour mandatory yearly traing, and at least be placed on inactive status for a time after the baby is born. I really want to foster to adopt, but I don't think I can go through this entire process again if we get denied fjust or having a baby of our own.

I've noticed other posters on this site who had children of their own while they were fostering. As long as you still meet the space requirements in your home, I can't imagine that it would make a difference.

Well, I talked to the caseworker and she said that we will have to wait an entire year after the baby is born before we can foster. Apparently they think it will be too stressful for a new foster parent to deal with a newborn and all the stress that comes along with foster parenting. Oh well, I really feel that this is my calling so I guess we'll just have to wait a few years.

That's what our agency says too. They won't let you adopt or foster until 12 months after your most recent major event (marriage, divorce, birth, adoption, loss of family member, etc).

That's why I didn't tell our agency when my mom passed away. I just couldn't have handled her loss as well as the loss of our 3 children.
