Any other single male foster parents?

I’m a 42yo single male working to become a foster parent. I have completed the initial training courses required by my agency and am currently working on the required 40 hours of observation with a foster mentor. Upon completion I will verified to be a foster parent. I’ll be the first to admit I have a lot to learn about parenting. I do have 22 years of experience working with children in a pediatric hospital and I also worked as a CASA volunteer. This does prepare me a bit for working with the children but I know there’s much more to learn.

Are there any other single male or female foster parents in this forum that could give advice and share experiences?

Thanks, drgeorge

Just wanted to say welcome to the Texas Forum and fostering!

We're not a single parent home, but we did hear from one during our PRIDE classes. He was awesome! Here was a single man fostering up to 3 ... yes, THREE! ... boys at a time. Different races, different religions, different you name it, but somehow, he managed to get them to their churches, get them to therapy, treat each with respect (as well as teach respect) and run a household.

Sounds like you'll do just as well! Good luck!

Don't feel alone. They are here. Just hang around for a while and check out a few of the other boards (like special needs) and you'll cross paths.

Glad to have you here!
