PLaces to look for children to adopt online?

I know of the TARE website and a few others but is there a place other than online to look at available children? How do you know who all is out there available for adoption?

Thanks

Try adoptUSkids.org

It listed children from all the states that participate.

There is a page on TARE that lists all the state's contact pages, for lack of another term at the moment to discribe what they are, anyways... it takes a little playing around to find the page (at least for me, I never know where I found it last).

If I find it, I will post the link.

Good Luck!

The news channels' websites. They do regular segments on waiting kids and archive the transcript and video. DH says Austin's is the best, but the others aren't shabby.

From what I've just seen, the individual sites are not as up to date as TARE. There were some kids that have already come off TARE because they are in the process of being placed already and the heart websites didn't have that info up.

It was nice to get some other info on those kidos though. And TARE does have an icon showing if the child has a heart website too.

From what I understand from our CPS adoption worker, all kids that are legally free, are required to be listed with TARE. Our oldest had a number assigned to him, but before he could be posted, his siblings came back into care. They put him on hold so he could be joined back up with them and placed as one group...with us. Since his siblings were still in the process of appeals, they were never assigned a TARE number.

If you're looking for Texas kids, legally free for adoption, TARE is your best option. However, if you're looking for foster-to-adopt (legal risk), CPS does have a picture book that they take to (for lack of a better word) an open house about every other month. Our placement worker told us about this because we had just missed it (by 2 days) and we had a placement before the next time around. I had the impression that this wasn't something well advertised to parents. It was mostly for workers to see if they had any families that would possibly match those kids. Something to ask about though.
