TX to privatize foster care; ban gay foster parents

Here's a news article which might interest Texas foster parents. It says the TX house has overwhelmingly passed a bill which would hand over all foster care management to private companies, and would bar gays or bisexuals from fostering. The TX Senate version of the bill does not have the clause about the foster parent's sexual preference.

I don't see it in this article, but I did read something in another article about it.

Well, shame on me for not double checking. I probably copied the wrong Google link (you know how they change orders on you while you are away). Here is one that does talk about it:

Gee, and here all along I thought family placements were always a priority in TX before foster care. For one thing, they don't have to pay family placements!

Renunification is first priority, then family placements then foster placements.

The bill was originally about privatizing foster care and the gay ban was slipped in at the last minute. This has caused quite a stir. I've had a long conversation with my cw about this subject as it would affect my family.

If you oppose this bill, I urge you to get involved!

Dad-ee and LadyBugz, is there a specific reason why you are carrying on a conversation as if you don’t know each other, when you are posting all the posts on this thread from the same computer?

I find this highly unusual.

Unusual, but no cause for alarm. Same IP, different computers. I'll PM you.
