subsidy question...

We were approved for subsidy for our little guy. Does it come the month of or the month after?

I am asking because I have neighbors that have on occasion decided my box was open season. Therefore, I really don't like to have money in my mailbox.

Wanted to add that he was placed in March around the 24th. Susidy was approved the last week of March.

I'm not in Texas, but I believe most states work the same way, and that's on the "reimbursement" mindset. So somewhere around the middle or end of April, you get the money that it was assumed you spent in March. Make sense?

On a related topic, places like Lowes and Home Depot sell locking mail boxes. The postman slips the mail through a slot similar to how cities put the mail through a slot in the front door, and you unlock the box at the bottom to retrieve your mail. Sounds like that might be helpful to you. (Of course, so would a mousetrap set on top of some dummy mail... *grin*)

I'm in Texas and...

I got my first foster placement September 29 and didn't receive a check until the beginning of November. They just calculated the remaining days in September and waited until October was over before sending the check. Since it is considered a reimbursement payment then it is after the fact... I believe they process the paperwork on the 3rd of the month and it is sent to Austin and they generate the check. They say it takes about 15 days or so but I usually get mine earlier than that...

Good luck!

Depends on who you're working with ... CPS or an agency. Our agency has our check ready for us on the 15th of the month...after (it's reimbursment). Perhaps you should look into a post-office box? Although, I do like the mousetrap idea!

Call your local office and ask for the form on direct deposit. They really prefer to do it that way. Then you don't have to deal with a check at all, it goes straight to the bank.

Thank you Jean!

I like the mousetrap idea too!! But I could just put a snake in theirs, like they did in mine. Perhaps they would think less about getting into others stuff!

Nice people. I hope these are the children and not the adults playing these games with you!

Unhappy

you would think he was a young child VS a very immature almost adult. I think he is 18 or will be just shortly. Very sad situtation. Mom across had 7 children, oldest 5 were removed and put into FC. Mom never really tried to get them back. Now we have the children following the same disfuntional cycle
