I am a Grandmother with temporary conservatorship of my 14 mo old Granddaughter. (I got her due to neglect by the biological parents.)
The bios are both very young and irresponsible and were told by the judge to do certain things, (in the court order) to get their child back. So far they have done nothing in the court order except visitations and have, in all honesty paid a little of the child support...just not on a consistant basis, and are over $3000 behind now. They have both been unemployed since April and are being evicted from their apt., and have ruined their credit. I don't really care so much about the child support any more, though because the initial thought was to have the child reunited with her parents eventually anyway. My main concern is that now, the bios are breaking up, (they were never married), and my daughter, the bio-mom is planning on going on the road with a trucker so she can make some quick money, (she says). She originally wanted to go for 6 months...without seeing her 14 mo old child and the bio father, who never has been consistant with visitation anyway, now wants to only come and see the baby for 2 hours every other Sunday. (He has 2 hours a week legally, plus 4 hours every other weekend.) I represent myself, but the hard part is not filing anything this time. The hard part and what I need help on is...what do I file, what do I do and is it considered abandonment for the bio mom to just pick up and leave her child like that? If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, I would certainly appreciate them. Thank you!

was this child removed by cps? IF so they will do all the paperwork for you. If not contact CPS and see what they tell you. I am currently working w/ a social worker that is great! There is nothing you can do about the bio parents coming and getting that child if you don't have legal custody of her.
