Question Educate me on Texas Adoptions Please

We have sent our homestudy for a 6YO in Texas. Can anyone tell me how the process works. How are parents chosen? In our state, the CW looks through homestudies. Pick a few and the aparents CWs meet at a committee. The families are presented for the child and a family is chosen. Does Texas do anything similar to this or does the CW decide? Can someone walk me through the process?

TIA

I wish I knew. We have submitted ours for an 8year old in Texas. Some states have committees, some just the worker picks. I really just don't know...

Thanks, I found out today that the CW is considering a family within the state. *sigh* We are still in the loop for his sister so we'll see how it goes!

Best Wishes,

I am in Texas and each child will have a planning team to make the final decision but they rely heavily on the cw's recommendation.

The team is made up of the cw, foster parents, casa worker (volunteer court advocate), and maybe a couple of other people like a counselor.

When you meet your child you will know why the others didn't work out. God knows the plans He has for you.

Mamajen,

I am in Texas I have a foster/adopt lic. Here the home studies are sent to the caseworker, they look at them pick 3-4 families they feel are best suited for the child/children. They then have a 4 way meeting where the familes caseworker presents the familes. They then pick the 1 family they feel is a good match.

Hope this answers some questions for you
Mary

In our case, they picked a family and placed him. *sigh* It wasn't meant to be...

We are in GA and were told at the beginning of April that we were selected for a sibling group in TX. I was very surprised that we were selected, but now we waiting on the interstate compact to be signed. I would also like information on that. Good Luck!
