private agencies
Hi, I am looking for a way to provide foster care. I live in Austin and I am interested in going through a private agency. Can anyone provide me with information on private agencies in Texas (or better yet, Austin)? I have no idea how to get started or if there are informational websites out there that can answer my questions, or even information sessions.

I am aware of Marywood Children's services in Austin. Look 'em up and inquire about their foster care program. Good Luck!

Are they a religiously-affiliated organization? My fiancee and I are Catholic and it seems that some private foster agencies require Christian parents (I was told in one place that I was not Christian, even though Catholicism is a Christian religion ???).

don't know..
if Marywood is a religious organization, but they contract with the state of Texas to do foster care adoptions, so I am assuming they do not discriminate on the basis of religion. Go to the CPS website for a full listing of foster/adoption agencies licensed by the state.
