cps in montgomery county

I was wondering if anyone could tell me who I need to contact with regards to fostering/adopting in Montgomery County Tx. I really don't know where to begin.

I would call Texas Dept of Protective & Regulatory Services (TDPRS)-Children's Protective Services in Houston and ask for the number to the Montgomery County office. The number for the Houston office is 713-394-4000. Or visit the website and look around http://www.tdprs.state.tx.us/

Thanks for your suggestions. I appreciate any info at all. What do ya'll suggest be the first thing to do? A home study? Do you just call and tell them your interested and they choose someone to come to your house? Do you go there?

They usually set up the homestudy for you.

If you are interested in fostering/adopting, let them know and they will have you go to an orientation meeting. You'll find out lots of information from the meeting. Are you going to go through CPS or an agency? You can email me and I can give you more information off of the boards. I live in Spring.

The first thing you need to do is contact them and find out when their next PRIDE class in your area is going to be. It's a 10 week, 3 hour week class that is required and you will get all the information at that time on what other steps you need to be doing. Lots of people don't make it through the PRIDE class so they don't expect you to be doing homestudies or anything else before you go to the class. They will arrange the homestudy after you have filled out page after page of their questionairre. Good luck.

It's been a few years since I filled it out but I seem to remember it being about 20 pages. But each page made you think about your relationships now and in the past and how you deal with different emotions. Also asks for references and your ok to do background and criminal checks on you. It took a long time to complete.
