Texas Homestudy - Reference letters

good morning,

Does anyone know what Texas' requirements regarding personal reference letters for the homestudy are?

For example, NJ requires 2 personal references, 1 employer and 1 neighbour.

Are the requirements in TX similar?

TIA!

I am licensed directly with CPS in region 6 and I only needed 5 references, 2 family 3 other. They called them and asked questions no letters were required.

Our social worker required 5 written references. I think only one had to be family. Having them written may have been his preference and not a requirement.

My SW has requested 3 letter total" 1 can be from a relative. BTW, I am not using an agency so I am not sure if requirements are different. Here is the template:

You have been selected to provide a reference letter for ____________________________
who are completing the requirements for an adoption home study.

Since this is such an important decision and one which will greatly affect the lives of the family and the child, those chosen as character references are requested to provide some information about their relationship with and perceptions of the prospective adoptive parent.

Please feel free to include anything that you think will describe or illustrate personal qualities and readiness for parenting.

Here are some questions to consider:

How long have you known and in what way do you know these individuals?
What characteristics would you use to describe them?
What are your impressions of their readiness to become adoptive parents?
How would describe their relationships with other important people in their life, including spouse and children, if this applies.
How do you think they would manage the challenges of raising a child who was ethnically or racially different? (if this applies to their placement)

Please send/e-mail your letter to me at the above address or fax to the number listed. Thank you for the time and effort you will be making to assist this family in such a meaningful way.

We are going through a non-profit agency who interfaces with CPS, and they require 5 references: 2 from family and 3 non-family. Ours are written. The agency also has reference forms for our employer, which are written as well (salary, how you work with others, stability of employment, hours worked per week, etc.).
