We are looking for an attorney to help us with a private adoption in the Rio Grande Valley. If anyone has any experiences (good or bad) with an attorney, please PM me. I've made phone calls to several attorneys but would love to have a referral from a client. We're in a time crunch as well. The baby is due in a month and a half and we just found out about this situation two days ago. We may have a complication in that the BF lives in Mexico and is unaware of the pregnancy.

I've spoken to an attorney in the Rio Grande Valley (where the bmother lives) and was informed that I need to get an attorney in my county because that is where the petition needs to be filed. I'm in the Austin area and could use some referrals for attorneys and for the home study. Also any advise on private adoptions would be great. I'm walking around in the dark here because this situation presented itself out of nowhere. But after 7 years of infertility struggles, we feel blessed to have this opportunity.

Have you contacted the quad-A attorneys in your area? If not, go to www.adoptionattorneys.com - the website for the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys. Their member list is online. Call at least 3 in your area and compare fees, services, experience and your comfort level.
