adoption paperwork

Can anyone give me a list of all the paperwork that is involved in a state to state adoption. The birth will be in Texas, adoptive parents from Tenn. How long does it usually take to get all the paperwork done?

Example: homestudy, Health, Social, Educational and Gentic History, etc.

*There will be an attorney handling the adoption, the adoptive would just like to get as much of the paperwork done beforehand as possible. If there is something that may take a long time, there will be time to prepare.

I am adopting in TX but live in NY. I went through an agency and I can give you my timeframe if it helps.

Application depends on you and your state. You need to have a checkup, TB & HIV Test (about a week for results). Fingerprints & background checks from your state & TX (about 6 weeks possibly sooner for results) I needed to take an infant CPR class. Not sure if you have to do it (depends on when class is scheduled). I needed tax records for the application. The actuall application took about a week. I dont now what type of application it will be with a lawyer. As for the Health, Social, Educational and Gentic History that was all part of my application. Homestudy depends on when you can get an appointment and what your state requirements are for a homestudy. You lawyer can tell you that probably.

Hope that helps

Alison
