Hi,
I am new and would like to ask a question. My DH and I want to adopt and a friend suggested we talk to Living Legacy. Can any of you share your experiences with me?? Are they a good agency and are they expensive?? We want a faith based agency but I have heard some scary things about adoption so we are very nervous.
Thank you for your help,
Sarah

Sarah,
Welcome!!! I know adoption can be very scary but it is worth the risk. There are some great books you can read to get a full understanding of the adoption process, I will email you the list of books we have read. As far as it being expensive..... It can be but I think LL is very reasonable. We prayed about it before we made a final decision and we feel that God's plan is for us to adopt. It is very personal for most people, you should follow your heart and not let fear take over, I know that is easier said than done!!!!

Please feel free to email me at: thebrewers3@comcast.net

God Bless you and your family, we will keep you in our prayers!!!
Les

Les,
Thank you for the list of books, I sent you an email as well. If some of my questions are too personal.. you do not have to answer them. I will be praying for your family as well. Are you matched with a birth mom and when is she due?

Exclamation OT, but need a suggestion

I posted this above, but meant for it to go here.

****

I'm fairly certain this isn't the right place to ask this question, but I will anyway.

My DH and I have been trying for almost 2 years to start a family and are considering adoption if medical assistance doesn't help us achieve our dream of having a child.

We are looking at using the Living Legacy agency in Dallas (since a friend at church suggested it), however we've decided to attempt IVF one time before choosing to go the adoption route. We are very new to the DFW area and currently struggling to find a doctor we trust to help us with the infertility issues. Any positive experiences with local doctors would be wonderful... but that isn't the reason for this post...

The reason for my post is I'm sure many of you have been down this infertility road and I'm wondering if any of you can suggest a supportive message board for couples going through treatment and IVF.

Thank you so much!

Adopting Through Living Legacy

My husband and I are trying to adopt again through Living Legacy. We have a 2 1/2 year old precious son and are hoping to have another little one soon. I'd love to hear from waiting adoptive parents or those who recently adopted through LL! It is hard to be "waiting" again and it would be fun to "chat" with those of you who are in the same boat. Please share your stories with me!

Question Living Legacy--profile book??

Hi, we have a beautiful (adopted) 9 month old and are ready to start the process for a 2nd. We are most interested in Living Legacy (dallas).

Can anyone give me an idea about the profile book?
We used a similar Christian agency with our first, but the books were called something different--just curious what LL's entails.

We'll be going to an orientation soon, I just wanted to see if any of you who have used LL could give me a heads up on that.

Thanks!

LL

We used Living Legacy for our first adoption (2.5 years ago) and are currently using them again (our file has been active since July) for our second.

The profile book is just a scrapbook of you and your family. We did our letter to the bparents on the first page, then I talked about how my dh and I met (pics of engament and wedding), following that I did some pages on our son's birth via adoption, then pages on our extended family members, vacations before our son and after, christmas pictures, ect...and then a family picture at the end with another letter. Anyway, just thought I'd give you an idea of what the profile books usually contain.

If you go to an orientation meeting they most likely will show you profile books so you can get an idea of what they entail and look like.

Best wishes to you guys!

Not Positive Experience

I just wanted to let you know that you should be super careful (and prayerful) when choosing an adoption agency. Many times there are small signs that things are not right - unreturned phone calls, inconsistent statements, repetitive "mistakes". Adoption can be a beautiful thing, but if handled incorrectly agencies can manipulate and coerce both birthmothers and adoptive families.

If you would like to know more about my specific experiences, please feel free to contact me at adoptionexperience@sbcglobal.net.

Good Luck. I'll be praying each of you make the right decision.

Smile Kenny's Birthmom

I am Opal. I am a birthmother and I used Living Leagacy Adoption Agency, I have nothing but praises and great things to say about this agency. I had a wonderful experience, despite the very tough choice I made. They do everything that they can to make you feel at ease and there is nothing wrong with this agency. Their employees do all they can for the birthmother's and the adoptive families. I don't know where my life would be today with out this agency.
