For all those that have been discouraged by the bad endings for finding records...I have a happy and encouraging one for you. Don't be affraid to petition the court for your records. I was terrified to go thru with the court filings for fear that I would be told no. Instead just the opposite happened. After appearing before the judge I was able to look thru my file with the clerk of courts office and get my birth mother's name and address at the time I was born. Now the search is on for more information in finding her. I know a name doesn't seem likek much to most people but to an adoptee it can mean the world. So to anyone who hasn't tried the courts yet, find a good attorney that is compassionate and willing to help you and not just themselves and give it a shot...you may be as surprised as I was.
