I paid a lady in Texas to help me find the birthmothers of my children. I paid her a year ago and she promised to find the birthmothers. After several months she gave me some names claiming those were the last names(maiden?) of the birthmothers. I am not sure the names she gave me were actually the birthmother's names. I can not contact this searcher. She will not reply to my emails. Either she is deceased or a scam artist.....

How did I find the searcher? She contacted me, here, via private message and then we began to email one another.

That is very very sad. I am a volunteer searcher for Texas and I absoluteley do not charge. I also am searching for my neice and it can be very difficult and emotional at times. Please do not confuse me with this person. I am here to help whoever needs it, even if it is not in Texas, I am more than happy to help. All they have to do is ask. So, if you do need help, I am here!!!!

I am very sorry that you were taken advantage of.

It is a rule of the forums that "professionals" are not to contact people and solicit to them. It is a good rule of thumb that if a professional of any kind (agency, searcher, attorney, etc.) is breaking the forum rules, they are probably not very reputable.

If anyone is contacted in such a manner, by private message or email, administration can only protect you if we know about it. It is important to make a moderator or administrator aware of such communications so we can investigate and most likley remove the offender.

If you have any information regarding this searcher, it would be good to send it to myself or a moderator so we can at least stop them from doing it again.

Again, my heart goes out to you for the false hopes that were built up and for the financial loss as well. I cannot do anything to restore those things to you, but with your help, I can stop it from happening to others.
