Question Father unaware of pregnancy?

I was just wondering how many of you have received your files from the state and found out that your father was not told of your mother's pregnancy and therefore hardly any information was given on him? Did you have the state search, and did they find him?

I received my letter from the state stating they had initiated the search and I did have down that I wanted to contact my birthfather along with other members of my birthfamily, however, since he was unaware of the pregnancy and only his name & physical description was given, will the state really try to find him?

I was hoping someone else in this situation could tell me their experience with the way the state does their searches and how long I will have to wait until I can conduct my own search if they don't find him.

Thanks,
Jennie

Well, I got my answer. I received a letter from the state the other day saying since the sealed record didn't contain an acknowledgement of parenthood they cannot verify any relationship to him. However, I am no longer bound to the Sworn Statement not to have contact with him, so I can actively search for him myself.
