I am looking for marriage records too. I have my mother's maiden name but only my father's first name and general location of marriage. They married years after I was adopted. Have you found any answers in NJ?

There may be easier ways, but did you try classmates.com? If you can estimate what year she may have graduated, and what town, you can go to the web site and they list all schools in NJ by towns. You could then check each school under the year she may have graduated. A lot of the women on there put their maiden names down so that people can find them. This may be a long shot. Hope it helps! Thanks for your help, but my birthmom went to school in England. I'm not too sure if they have a website for that. I saw one once, but it was only for a certain area. But it's a great idea for others searching with a maiden name. Thanks, Sue

There is a web site like the classmates one in England, but I have no idea what it's called. I just remember that a friend of mine from London, who was living stateside at the time, told me he' found it and was looking up old school chums on it.

I would try a search engine, like google, and look up words like, England, Class, Reunion, School, etc., together and see if you can find one.

Hi,
I was born in Jersey City and adopted through a private adoption. I knew my birthmom's last name and used the phone directory to find family members since she had an uncommon last name. I live in Maryland and used the online phone directory available at the public library.

Hi Laura,
Sorry to hear about your birthmom. My birthmom was from NJ, but lived in CA. I found her in 1994. She passed away suddenly in 1997. Although we only had a short time together, I would not have changed it for the world. I did my searching from the library in Baltimore city, but they were from NJ as was I. I moved to Maryland in 1991. I never met my BF as he passed away many years ago. Were you able to find any Bsiblings?

Yes I was from NJ & so was she!!! She never moved out of the county I was born in (Hudson). I was 20 minutes away from her my whole life & never knew it!!! I recently moved (still in NJ), so I was farther away, but I reached out in Aug 2002 to my uncle in England & he wouldn't tell me anything of her whereabouts. In Jan. 2003 he stated she was no longer in America & considered this whole thing a closed chapter. But I found her again June 2003 with the help of a PI & she died Jan. 2003. I don't know why my uncle wouldn't tell me this, but to each his own. I know who my birthfather was also---Same as yours died about 25 years ago of an overdose! No siblings, my mom never had any other children. But on my birthfather's family I may have half siblings, but I have to find his sister (my aunt) first to find this out! I'm going to do that soon. So did you find any siblings? Thanks for replying. Sue

Hi again Sue,
I grew up in Hudson County for 27 years before I moved to Maryland. I have half siblings on both sides. The siblings fronm my BF don't communicate with me as their mom divorced my BF and feel anyone associated with him is no good. I do maintain a friendly relationship with BF's ex wives though. I also have a semi relationship with my half sister from my birthmom, the half brother thinks I came to find lost family riches or something. 2 years after I was born, my birthmom & BF had another child, my full sister, but she was stillborn in 4/67.
