I am trying to get information about adopting my two daughters, when the bio mom has not contacted my husband in over 6 years.
I have asked around and everyone says that we will need consent from his former wife (bio mom) Is there anyone who can
give me any suggestions on how to do this, and change their name to my husbands last name (they were married after the children) We they were divorced she was no where to be found, so he had to put a notice in the local newpaper.

Any suggestions will be appreciated!

My husband adopted our two oldest children 7 years ago after their bio father had been gone for less than 3 years. I don't know how it is in your state but here in KY, after 6 months of no contact, no child support, etc., the judge can rule the parent 's rights terminated and approve the adoption. My former husband was in custody so it was no problem to find him, I am not sure ofhow your states law would read about that. My suggestion would be talk to an attorney you trust that could make sure everything was done correctly so you would have no surprises in the future!
