this is a difficult issue. i want my husband to adopt my son. but the father(biological) who has never paid support, or has even wanted to see him wont allow it. and my son grandparents(fathers parents) wont help me out w/ this issue. and its strange because the parents want nothing to do w/ their son. my husband wants this so much hes willing to fight forever until it happens. i think its great, cuz this is the only daddy my son has known. does any body have ideas or suggestions? please help.

I also found out that he had a lengthy prison record! Shortly after I kicked him out he was arrested and went yet again to jail. Anyway, I never put him on the birth certificate and that helped but he never tried to contact us anyway. When I met my husband my son was 18 months old and he wanted to adopt him. I spoke to the local courts and they said all I had to do was publish the adoption in the paper in the town in which I lived when I gave birth for 3 weeks and mail a registered letter to both his last known address and DSS (to make sure his wasn't a missing child) and the adoption wen't through uncontested without any issue when my son was 3. He is now 8 and my husband is and always has been Daddy. My only issue now is the fear of the day he starts with questions. He is the only one in the family with black hair and brown eyes.
